Saturday, May 6th is “shred day” in Milwaukee — designated by the Better Business Bureau and a day to take steps to protect yourself from identity theft and get your finances in order. There will be free shredding on Saturday morning from 8:30 am – 11:00 am at the SVA Public Accountants office in Brookfield.

It comes at the perfect time! You probably just finished doing your taxes and have a lot of financial paperwork lying around. Identity theft has skyrocketed nationwide in the last decade. One of the best things you can do to protect yourself is safely get rid of documents with your personal information. 56% of ID theft victims traced the theft back to something that was stolen from their own possession like paperwork that has your sensitive information, such as your Social Security number, your account numbers or even something as simple as your address.
